What's in the box?

Tomorrow is the first day of the new school year.  Yeah!  We are starting new levels in our curriculum and I finally have everything together to start things off.  So what do we have planned?

Third Grade
Reading box--review worksheets


Language arts box--Russian Folktales block by Marsha
Sister Alyonusha is the folk tale and we will look at paragraphs.

Math box--Winter math block by Marsha again
folk tale is the Snow Maiden
13, 8 and 5 triplet in Rod and Staff

Social Studies box--the story of father time in Oak Meadow 3

Science box--Oak Meadow sun & moon lesson
Rabbit & the Sky box
Wildlife poster for 4-H
Cat project for 4-H

Project/lapbook box--Owl Lapbook found here and here and here.

I think she will have a lot of fun.

Fifth Grade
History box--Oak Meadow day 1 & 2 of first weeks readings
begin ice age lapbook

Science box--scientific method, observation
caged critters for 4-H

Language arts box--singular & plural noun work

Spelling box--Spell to Write and Read review lists A & B, work on list M-6

Math box--multiplication, division, Roman numerals and long division review work

I think that we will be making a good start this year.  The workload will be a bit more for her but we are starting to get her ready for middle school.  We may enroll her half time at the local charter school (math, art, physical education, science).  But we will see.
