Making Choices about Time

Do you feel like you have too much to do all the time?  Are you rushing about and feeling like you are getting nothing done?  It may be time for you to sit down and analyze your time.

Why should I analyze my time?

This is a helpful activity that will show you if you have time that is being wasted, that will allow you to make choices in how you use your time and it will allow you to feel that you have more control over your life and that you are not just spinning your wheels all the time.

1.  Make a list:
Take time to write down all the tasks you really want to accomplish/include in your week.  This is chores, cuddle time, outings, school, etc.  Include time for sleeping as well.

2.  Assign an amount of time to each activity.  Be realistic or even give the activity a little bit more time than it really takes.  Example:

School--2-3 hours
afternoon chores--1 hour
morning routine--1 hour

3.  Once you have done this add up the time for a typical day.  Are you over or under 24 hours?  Do you think you have found some lost time?

4.  If you are over the 24 hours in a day, you are going to need to take time to:
eliminate some activities
do certain activities on certain days/not every day

After doing this you may find that some things really need to be eliminated from your schedule.  You may find that if you adjust your rhythm that you have time to do things you always wanted to do but didn't have time for before.

Taking control of your time can give you freedom.  Freedom of choice, freedom of life, freedom of time.
