What's in the box?

Next week is our last week of school before we take our summer break. We will have a 2-3 week break and then everyone moves up a grade and we start the new school year. So what's planned for the last week of school?

Second Grade:

Box 1--Reading/Phonics: Usborne Horses and Ponies reader, phonograms j, k, l, m, n, p, r, and t. We will be spending quite a bit of time dictating and decoding three-letter words.

Box 2--Main Lesson:
math--2, 5, and 10 tables, counting change
social studies--the March calendar page
science--bees and honey combs
language arts--rhyming words

Box 3--Math:
Singapore--finishing up the unit on multiplication
Rod and Staff--subtraction with regrouping

Box 4--Lapbooks:
Sahara--finishing up
Pharaohs--Khaba, Huni, Sneferu, and Khufu

Box 5--On your own:
math--addition within 5
copywork--ancient Egypt

Fourth Grade:

Box 1--Grammar: finishing up the unit on Adverbs

Box 2--Spelling: test for K-7, diagnostic test to see where to start in June.

Box 3--Main:
History: Ben Franklin
Science: tundra, grasslands, ocean and ponds

Box 4--Math: Singapore review of 4a

Box 5--On your own:
Math--multiples, factors and review of Rod and Staff 4a
Lapbook--Edison vocabulary and inventions
Grammar--plurals and prepositions (Oak Meadow)
Vocabulary--words from the Ben Franklin lesson to look up
Composition--writing sentences using word banks.
Reading--Ben and Me

Projects: candle making and paper making (if we remember to do them.)

Read Aloud: The Slippery Slope by Lemony Snicket

I think it will be a nice week and we will wrap things up and take a nice break. When we come back there will be a lot of fun new things to do. So what's in your boxes?
