What's in the box?

It is a three-day week next week because Wednesday (Earth Day) we have an all day field trip to a local camp where will will plant trees and learn all sorts of exciting things about sustainability.

So what are we doing the rest of the week?

Second grade:
Box 1--Phonics & Reading: Usborne Beginners Horses & Ponies, the phonograms o and s

Box 2--Main lesson: math is counting by 10's, social studies is the January page of our calendar and science is animal cards. Also we are reading a page of poems a day from A Child's Garden of Verse.

Box 3--Math: multiplication in Singapore and 13, 4 and 9 in Rod and Staff

Box 4--Lapbooks:
camels--we will finish it up and put it together
Sahara--people, countries and has it ever snowed there?
Pharaohs--Nynetjer, and sorting out 3 others

Box 5--Copywork: Egyptian

Fifth grade:

Box 1--Grammar: Adverbs (ly, ward/wise and positive) with Up, Up and Away by Ruth Heller, in Oak Meadow suffixes and base words. We are also reading Falling Up by Shel Silverstein.

Box 2--Spelling: List K-6

Box 3--History: Revolutionary War and George Washington
Science: Biome project explanation

Box 4--Math: area

Box 5--Independent work:
Math--mixed review, 2-part story problems
SWR--plurals and word analysis
Lapbook--Inventors
Composition--writing from word banks and typing up the composition

Box 6--project: making paper

I think it will another week of good progress. We have 3 more weeks left of school then we will be on summer break. We will go back to work in June. So what's in the box at your house?
