Plans for 2010--Fourth to Fifth Grade

I've been thinking about next spring and the next school year and how we want to do things.

Math--Singapore backed up with review from Rod and Staff
Spelling--Spell to Write and Read

January
verbs
rabbits
creation/beginning of the world and early eras
dinosaurs

February
punctuation/sentence writing
coming of humans/early humans
ice age lapbook

March
adverbs
Mesopotamia and Ancient India

April
pronouns
Egypt

May
Egypt
interjections and conjunctions

Then in June when we start the new school year, I am looking at:

Science: Oak Meadow year 5 (environmental science)

History: Bible Stories, then Famous Men of Greece and several lapbooks on Ancient Greece followed by Famous Men of Rome and lapbooks on Ancient Rome

I would love to buy the Oak Meadow Year 6 History/Language Arts syllabus and use it over the next two years but it is quite pricey. It covers all that we are wanting to cover and adds in writing assignments as well.

When we start working with Ancient Rome again, I am going to start Lively Latin again with both girls. So here is the line-up for 2010:

Math--Singapore 4b/5a
Science--Oak Meadow 5
Spelling--Spell to Write and Read
History--the Ancients

What do you think?

Tanglewood has some free curriculum up. Here is the link to their 5th grade study of ancient Egypt.

Just wanted to share in case you had not seen it.:-)

Thanks. I did not know that she had come back and started revamping her site again.
