What's in the box?

So what is in the box for the first week of October? We are changing units in grammar, science, biomes and geography. We will be changing history toward the end of the month. So what's new and what is in the boxes?

Box 1--Read Aloud: The Wide Window by Lemony Snicket. We should finish this one this week.

Box 2--Grammar: Adjectives. We will be reading Many Luscious Lollipops, notebooking the concepts in a colorful way and doing word sorts for qualities, agreement, color and size.

Box 3--Math: Grade 2: more working with addition and subtraction within 20, beehives for thirteen and fourteen number bonds.
Grade 4: more review work for multiplication and fractions.

Box 4--Spelling: Spell to Write and Read List G the first 10 words. We will notebook or and ow. We will also work with when to use ou or ow and do a worksheet on associated words.

Box 5--History: we will make a log cabin and wagon out of paper, add figures to the timeline and learn about the gold rush.

Box 6--South America & the Rainforest: South America maps, Brazil information, and we will learn about the birds, reptiles, amphibians and mammals that live in the rainforest.

Box 7--Reading: We will all work with October words and the sight words that we have done so far. I am going to try and have them do a little bit of work at the word wall and some sentence creating in addition to the reading that they do every day.

Box 8--Get Creative: 4-H project and hopefully we will get around to playing with clay this week.

I think that we will have fun next week. So what is in your boxes?
