Weekly Report August 21, 2009

This was our second week with workboxes and I added in the file folder games and a few in dependant activities. Here is my take on what worked and did not work:

Educational TV on-demand--boring!

Kid's yoga on TV on-demand--Lots of fun! We will keep this in our boxes for next week.

File folder games--fun and then not. We are going to mix these up with time in the task card area so that the games remain fun and not ho-hum.

Number cards and grid--They loved pulling them off the folder to show that they were done with the work and comparing their grids.

OK, now for what we accomplished this week:

Read Aloud--By the Shores of Plum Creek

Sight Words--List 1

Grammar--Notebooked more types of pronouns.

Latin--We are working on lesson 8 of Lively Latin

Math--ordinal numbers for 2nd and addition and subtraction of improper fractions in 4th

SWR--we worked with List B

History--the Erie Canal and the War of 1812

Science--Newton, gravity and the 3 laws of physics

Art--advanced scribble pictures

And they played a variety of fun games and did some word sorts.

It was a good week and we are looking forward to moving into the schoolroom on Monday.

"Kids Yoga" rocks! We purchased all 3 DVDs when we originally saw the segments On Demand. They are great for rainy-day indoor phys ed or to use on a daily basis!
