Weekly Report for February 20, 2009

First Grade:

Phonics--We started doing 1 reading/phonics lesson per day out of Rod and Staff this week. It went very well.

Math--Subtraction facts

Lapbook--we started one on Raccoons which should soon be posted to homeschoolshare but they have been a little busy lately and I will link to it as soon as it is up. It is a really cute lapbook.

Third Grade:

Math--mental math

Latin--Lively Latin Vocabulary B activities

Story of the World--The Thirty Year's War

Science--the circulatory system

Lapbook--the presidents #1-12. We are doing three presidents a day over a four week period and going over what the duties of a president are..

Webkinz club at the library. They made "magic carpets" for their animals to "fly" on.

We sang at two nursing homes and passed out pictures we had made. It was really neat when one man who had just sat there with his head slumped to the side perked up and actually smiled when the kids sang "Take me Out to the Ballgame." It is always so neat to do this activity with the children. One nursing home we go to gets a lot of special activities and one does not. You can really tell the difference between the two but both are so appreciative and thankful for the children to come and sing and visit a little.

It was a busy but good week.

sounds like a great week and what a nice thing to do - singing at the nursing homes. Great experience for the kids.
