Looking at the Next Eight Weeks--Summer School

Every month, I usually come here and give a glimpse into our plans for the next month. I've revamped things for summer school and broken us into four two-week segments. So here is a glance at our plans for the next eight weeks:

Unit 1--Horses and Rabbits

Third Grade Transition:

Story of the World--Africa and India
Singapore Math 3a--Multiplication with regrouping and long division with the sevens table
Minimus Latin--Chapter 6 "Let's Go Shopping!"
Project--Make a rabbit poster for 4-H.

First Grade Transition:

Rod and Staff Reading--Unit 1 Lessons 20 through 23
Math--Rod and Staff addition within 4, number ladders for nine and ten, Earlybird Math p. 14 and 15.
Project--A lapbook about horses.

Unit 2--Cats

Third Grade Transition:

Story of the World--Columbus and the Americas
Math--the eight tables
Minimus--finish chapter six
Project--A lapbook about cats

First Grade Transition:

Rod and Staff Reading 1--Unit 1 lessons 24 through 27
Math--Rod and Staff the number 11, addition within 4
Project--A lapbook about cats

Unit 3--Butterflies, Dogs and Dinosaurs

Third Grade Transition:

Story of the World--The slave Trade and the Reformation
Math--the nine's table
Minimus--Chapter 7
Projects--Lapbooks about butterflies and dogs

First Grade Transition:

Rod and Staff Reading 1--Unit 1 Lessons 28 through 30
Math--the number 12 and addition within 4
Projects--Lapbooks about butterflies and dinosaurs

Unit 4--Money

Basically we are going to take two weeks and discover the history of, do science with, make origami with and do math about money. We will probably not be doing any sort of lapbook or poster for this but we may.

And that brings us to August and the official start of First and Third Grade.
