Second Week of March

Spring is here--yeah!

So what did we do this week? We had some new additions and requests for additional material.

For Kindergarten:

Earlybird Math--working on counting 11 to 20.
Rod and Staff Reading 1--Yes, my youngest asked to use this again. She is working on material for lessons 4 to 6. And she is starting to read.
Review book--She went through and completed the entire book by Tuesday and so I had to refill it for her. She is doing great and making great strides.

For Second grade:

Rhythmic drill--the six and seven tables.
Phonics--the sounds of ck and wh.
Math--we have been doing one two-step word problem out of the text per day and she has been working with multiplication and division in the workbook. We start stacked multiplication next week.
Composition--This week she wrote about the Peacock. She is using her compositions as copywork.
Latin--We learned about verb endings and meet Pandora the new slave girl in Minimus.
Science--We worked in the Higher Order Thinking Skills book and finished up our study of matter.
McCall-Harby Test Lessons in Reading--She read it all without me pointing to the words and got 100% on the test.

It was a wonderful week and surprise--I was asked by my daughter about starting up Story of the World again. So it has been a nice little break but it seems that my children do like a more rigorous education. So I am thinking that from January to October we will have rigor and in November and December we will make it light and fun with lots of review.

I don't know about bringing back Tapestry of Grace but next week we will start where we left off in Story of the World 2.

Hope everyone else had a great week.

Good week! My K'er is enjoying Earlybird math (me too!) and we look forward to Minimus next year. This is actually "Spring Break" week for us, so I don't have to feel guilty about not writing a weekly report. :)

Everything seems ot have fallen into place for you all... Thats great....

We slowed way down in our TOG study... only on week 13... gasp! Its better this way though... we dont feel rushed... RyLee and I were not feeling that way, but poor Christian we are going with her needs first...

My daughter loved her two years with Minimus - and this year moved up to Latin Prep. We love story of the world and I feel like I have been blogging for weeks about what on earth we are going to do next year when we have completed that circuit!

Nice to hear from you Lisa.

Yeah, it seems like we are back to a lot of the same line-up. We will be restarting SOTW 2 next week with the Mongol horde. I don't know if I will pick up TOG any time soon but I still have it and if we do we will probably slow it down to the speed of no more than a chapter a week of SOTW.

Thanks for stopping by.

I've been wondering about where we will go after Minimus is over. I am looking at Lively Latin and Latin Prep.

I'll be watching TWTM boards to see how both pan out over this year.

Thanks for stopping by.
