The Plan for January

This month we are going to start slowly and have lots of fun. We are going to start doing circle time again and incorporate our seat work within it. I read this to my daughter and she thinks it will be a lot of fun.

Here is what we will do:

Opening verse: Let's Make a Circle

Bean bag time: counting, odds and evens and/or a colors of the rainbow verse

Seasonal Verse: Winter Song

Oldest Daughter's Weather Report

Math Verse: Knock, Knock

Math Story and Activities: Topic this month is place value and odds & evens

Seat work Verse: Two Feet Go Tap, Tap, Tap

Phonogram introduction and review: We are working on ck, th, oo, sh, ou, oy, and double letters.

Copywork: A sentence or words related to the phonogram of the day.

Math Practice: Place Value pages from Singapore

Monday and Wednesday will be Form Drawing
Tuesday and Thursday we will read a Fable from Aesop's and create a summary.

Minimus: The First Lesson

Creative Time: Clay on Mondays and Wednesdays and Science on Tuesday and Thursdays

We will end the day with a closing verse: My work is done.

At bedtime we hope to read: The Courage of Sarah Noble, Franklin by D'Aulaire, Paddle to the Sea by Holling C. Holling and the Felicity books from American Girls.

We hope to have a fun month.

Have just come across your blog - really interesting reading. Would you be able to expand on your January schedule by detailing the verses etc (or where I can find them)? Unless of course you've already described them in your blog and I simply need to read on!

I am particularly interested in reading more on the following:

Opening verse: Let's Make a Circle

Bean bag time: counting, odds and evens and/or a colors of the rainbow verse

Seasonal Verse: Winter Song

Math Verse: Knock, Knock

Math Story and Activities: Topic this month is place value and odds & evens

Seat work Verse: Two Feet Go Tap, Tap, Tap

I would love to but many of these have copyrights. You can find them in the seasonal books by Wynstones and some are found at the Waldorf Clearing House site.

The math lesson are found at the Serendipity blog.
