1st Week of January Weekly Check-in

Our Circle time is a big hit. My oldest loves giving a weather report and they loved the more relaxed and fun tone to school.

Math:

Odds and evens were explored this week
My oldest also did workbook pages on place value in Singapore Math 3a

Language Arts:

We learned about the sounds for the phonograms sh and ee.
They listened to the story of "The Pig and the Sheep" (Aesop's Fables)
My oldest narrated the story back to me in four sentences. She then made illustrations and we added the script from her narration.

Form Drawing:

We made a rainbow and watched a leaf fall.

Latin:

We started Minimus this week. My oldest loves it. We enjoyed learning about what to call members of the family.

Creative:

We worked in play-dough every day after the main work was done. They enjoyed this.

It was a great week back even though we had many outside commitments in the afternoons so we did not have the down time we usually enjoy.

Your 1st week sounds great!

I love circle times. :o)

Have you tried Play Foam (not the type from Wal-mart), but the good stuff from a educational store? My kids love playing with it.

We have a little playfoam and it dried up. We were supposed to work in clay but I decided to just let them be free to create rather than direct them in making balls and snakes in the real clay.

They learned to make balls and snakes on their own with the playdough.

Circle is great. We use it as a frame for our entire day and have little verses to transition to different parts of the school day.

Thanks for stopping by.
