Weekly Update TOG 7 part a

This week is a mixed one.

Friday--We went to the library to pick up our books for Tapestry of Grace Week 7 and then went to the park for a homeschool playdate. It was lots of fun and we played with friends for 2 hours.

The weekend was overshadowed by illness since my husband and I were still fighting illness. We did get to see the new James Bond movie which is set in the hotel where the next convention for my husband's company will be. Yes, we are looking forward to going to the Atlantis in the Bahamas next year.

Monday--I was feeling much better and we started our new responsibility checklists which meant that by the time school started everyone had eaten breakfast, brushed their teeth and hair, made their beds and were dressed and ready for the day.

Tuesday--This was a great day. We went on an outing with the local homeschool group and learned all about letterboxing and geocaching. We really enjoyed it and plan on starting to do letterboxing especially on vacation.

Wednesday--We visited the local school for a speech evaluation and were reaffirmed in our decision to continue to homeschool. The speech therapist was wonderful though and extremely helpful.

Today--We awoke to the news that a friend's daughter had returned home after being missing for almost three weeks. Also, Grandpa from Texas is going to be here tomorrow for a visit. We just found out about his visit and are very excited.

For My Second Grader:

Copywork this week was drawn from Bunny Rabbit's Diary by Mary Frances Blaisdell and we had one sentence about the crusades.

Grammar was alternated between KISS and Easy Grammar. We used the sentence holder this week and that made things much easier. We also used sentences from KISS for our TOG sentence combing exercises.

Spell to Write and Read--We worked on plurals and the different sounds of "s."

Math was all about the passage of time.

For science we continued to work on our lapbook about invertebrates. We made some unique books about shellfish, sponges and corals.

For Kindergarten:

My youngest really likes Rod and Staff readers so we are working again in these books. She is using the reading workbook, the reader and the worksheets. I have the phonics workbook on hold. So this week she worked on learning color words and the second lesson in unit one where God created light.

Math was all about odds, even and story order.

Penmanship included learning how to make p and r in the Handwriting Without Tears workbook and we did two days of copywork copying our name and fun words like "princess" and "mermaid."

We learned about the crusades in Story of the World and got really bored with Abram and Lot in our Bible Studies. We may skip forward a little in Bible and get to some better stuff.

Now, we are off to clean house before company comes. I hope the rest of you had a great week too.

Your collection of sidebar links is great! I could just use your blog as my start up page! :)

Letterboxing & geocaching really seem like wonderful whole family activities...we've haven't done either (yet) but someday we will!!

You're starting your TOG week on Friday? I meant to do that, but we got off track so we're doing M-F.

Glad you had some good news this week & hope you enjoy Grandpa's visit!

Thanks. I have more links that I am going to be adding as I get to them. This week has been a bit chaotic and next week will be as well.

We don't really start our weeks on Friday so much as end our weeks on Thursday. Friday is just a fun day.

Thanks for stopping by.
